What Orion does in Slack
In the Orion Workers dashboard, open the Ask Orion panel and ask in your own words. Orion can:
- Summarize a public channel or a thread.
- Find an earlier discussion by searching your public channels.
- Draft a message for a channel and post it, or schedule it, once you approve it.
For example:
- “Summarize the latest messages in #general.”
- “Find where we discussed the launch date.”
- “Draft a message to #team saying the weekly report is ready.”
You approve every message
Before Orion posts or schedules anything, it shows you the message exactly as it will be sent — the channel and the full text — with two buttons: Approve and Cancel.
- Nothing is posted until you click Approve.
- Cancel discards the message.
- If the text changes, it needs a new approval.
- Messages are posted as you.
What Orion can read
- Orion reads only public channels that you can already access, and only when you ask.
- It does not read private channels, direct messages or files.
Permissions requested from Slack:
channels:history— read messages in the public channels you can access.search:read.public— search public channels.chat:write— post, as you, the messages you approve.
